Green Superfood Popcorn By The Whole Tara

Spirulina is a perfect addition to a starchy snack like popcorn because of its high levels of protein, helping to balance your energy - clever stuff! 

The inspirational health and wellness expert Tara from The Whole Tara, came up with this amazing blend of spice, seasoning and garlic to add a bit more green algae goodness to snack-time! 

Tara, over to you: 

This is an Organic Burst Spirulina-based green popcorn combined with herbs and spices to give it a kick! Spirulina is one of the most potent superfoods out there. It's a blue-green algae that provides protein, B-vitamins, and iron. You can purchase it in a powder form, which is what I used here.


  • 1 cup organic popcorn kernels
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1 tbsp Organic Burst Spirulina powder
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper

  1. In a large pot with a lid, heat the coconut oil over medium heat until fully melted.
  2. Drop the kernels into the pot, cover, and shake to ensure all of the kernels are well coated.
  3. Allow the kernels to pop, shaking the pot every 10 seconds. Once the popping begins to slow, remove from the heat and allow the rest to finish.
  4. Pour the popcorn into a bowl and top with the spirulina, sea salt, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper. Shake and enjoy!
