It's Thanksgiving, which can be a tricky time for healthy eaters. Never fear! We have the perfect pumpkin pie recipe that's full of delicious, nourishing, vegan ingredients, along with Organic Burst Maca powder for an energising boost. The recipe is created by our customer Irene Limanto, the delightful Indonesian-born food blogger from the US, who caught our eye a while back with beautiful images of her dishes with Organic Burst superfoods, as we just love her style (not to mention all her cute cat pictures on Instagram too, of course). So we decided to collaborate with Irene on creating a photo shoot for our new look products! Her favourite place in the house is in the kitchen, and outside taking stunning photographs of her creations. We wanted you to get to know Irene a little better so we've included a quick interview along with her awesome Vegan Maca Pumpkin Pie video recipe below:
OB: How did you get into food blogging?
IL: I started blogging when I came to the U.S. At the beginning it wasn’t meant to be a food blog. It was meant to connect my sister (back in Indonesia) and me (in the U.S.), and pretty much tell each other the story of our days. As time went by, I noticed that I was sharing more about what food I’ve tried or cooked; so the food blog began, which later developed into a YouTube channel. Plus, living alone abroad had forced me to go to the kitchen and experiment.
OB: Did you learn photography and film making professionally?
IL: I majored in Video Production, and (with the help of my boyfriend) taught myself photography.
OB: What’s your eating ethos?
IL: For this, I will quote one of my favourite authors, Haruki Murakami, “The human body is a temple, to be kept as strong and beautiful and clean as possible.”
OB: Tell us your best food styling/photography tip?
IL: My best friend for food photography is natural light. Cloudy days are the best! I don’t have to worry about harsh shadows.
I like to keep it simple. Yes, I do love a beautiful mess in the frame. But the line between putting too much and putting just the right amount of props is quite fine. So if you’re not careful, it can turn out into a frame full of clutters.
