The Amazonian Super-Berry
Acai has been taken for centuries by native Brazilians. It’s said that inhabitants of Northern Brazil used acai berries to prevent the flu, fevers and as a pain-killer. Indigenous healers of the Amazon used it to treat skin conditions and digestive disorders. In the 90s it was surfers on the coasts of Brazil that noticed that drinks made from the acai berry gave them sustained energy and they could last for long periods without eating. This kick-started the international scientific community’s
interest into the properties of this mighty little berry.
